Xiaomi at IFA: When the Car Becomes Part of the Home

The most interesting part of Xiaomi’s IFA 2026 presentation for me was not another device. It was the possibility of the car joining the ecosystem around it.

The new-generation Xiaomi SU7 and the high-performance SU7 Ultra were on display. Xiaomi also showed Vision Gran Turismo, a concept created for the Gran Turismo franchise — not a production-car announcement. Xiaomi’s IFA announcement describes the automotive showcase.

A journey home connected to the home

The SU7 Max-centred “AI Today” area made the idea tangible. Xiaomi demonstrated how context such as location, time and weather could be used to adjust lighting and air conditioning before the user arrives home, with the user in control. That is a more useful ambition than simply adding another screen to the dashboard: the car becomes part of the same daily routine as the phone and the home.

There is also a commercial step worth watching. Xiaomi says it signed memoranda of understanding with eight German automotive dealer groups at IFA, as an early step in building a retail and service network ahead of its planned European entry, including Germany, in 2027. These are network-building steps, not a claim that the cars are already on sale here.

The experience after the showcase

From my perspective in smart-tech distribution, the decisive work is what follows the showcase: local service, clear compatibility and a dependable customer experience. The car may attract the attention. Making the whole experience work is what will earn the trust.

The evidence here is Xiaomi’s own account of its presentation and plans; it does not independently establish launch readiness or feature availability. For a wider view of the brands Tekpoint works with, explore our brand portfolio.
